Indian Motorcycle International, LLC, better known as Indian, is an American motorcycle manufacturer, with headquarters in Kings Mountain, North Carolina and Spirit Lake, Iowa. It is considered one of the two most iconic motorcycle brands in the United States, together with its biggest competitor: Harley-Davidson Motor Company.
Its most popular model, the Scout, was manufactured before World War II, and another of them, the Chief, from 1946 to 1953.
In 2011, the Indian brand was acquired by the Polaris company, which uses its knowledge in engineering, manufacturing and distribution to complete the goal for which Indian was born, which has since focused on classic models. Some of the best known are the Cruiser, the Bagger, the Touring, the Challenger or the Dark Horse.
