Puig celebrated its 60th anniversary last Friday, October 18th, with a grand celebration.
It’s now been 60 years since the brothers Josep and Jaume Puig founded "Industrial Plàstic Puig", a company born from their shared passion for two-wheeled vehicles. So much has happened over these years, from designing parts for Ángel Nieto’s Derbi, World Champion in 1969, to the constant expansion of Puig’s facilities due to its remarkable growth. We’ve also celebrated victories with prestigious riders like Ana Carrasco, Marc Márquez, and Jonathan Rea, all of them world champions.
To look back and share the history with everyone who’s part of Puig, we held an event at Rocco's Ranch, near the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit. Some attendees had the chance to test or improve their technique on the flat track circuit while a tour through our history reminded us of all we've lived through. We also enjoyed a spectacular show led by Jaime Busto, a trial champion.
The most emotional moment of the evening came from one of the founders, Jaume Puig, who recounted the history of the company he has dedicated his life to. Although Josep Puig could not join us, having passed away a few years ago, the next generations shared part of their parents' and grandfather's story. In addition, the work of both current and former employees who helped build the company into what it is today was recognized.
The setting couldn’t have been better: motorcycles displayed around Rocco's Ranch, showcasing the most innovative designs of the bikes that will be unveiled at EICMA, including the same bike Alex Lowes rides in the World Superbike Championship. We wrapped up the dinner and tribute with a cake shaped like a 60, with all three Puig generations blowing out the candles. Flat track champion Ferran Cardús wowed us with an impressive exhibition, accompanied by the song "Thunderstruck." The grand finale was a fireworks display that left everyone amazed.
It was an unforgettable, special, and incredibly fun night. All of us at Puig, from every department, were able to share this celebration of Puig’s first 60 years... and the many more to come!
