Álex Márquez finished thirteenth in the Catalan Grand Prix and adds three more points to the general scoreboard. Stefan Bradl finished seventeenth.
Álex Márquez landed in Barcelona with his spirits through the roof and his best moment on the RC213V. The Repsol Honda team rider had achieved his best results of the season at the dell’Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, where he finished seventh. The one from Cervera has continued to show his progression, but this time, it has been at home: the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit. In the first tests, the rider stayed less than half a second behind the leader, registering the ninth best time with 1 minute, 40 seconds and 478 thousandths. Stefan Bradl was back on the Honda after his arm injury and finished in 1 minute, 41 seconds, 260 thousandths.
The progression was maintained during the free practice, finishing less than 8 tenths of the best time in the FP2, FP3 and FP4 of the GP of Catalunya. The rookie of MotoGP finished Q1 in eighth position, setting his best mark in the Grand Prix and the eighteenth starting position. Bradl finished a second behind the Catalan and started from the twentieth position of the grid.
The weekend was marked by the presence of Marc Márquez, who returned to the MotoGP paddock with his characteristic smile. It was the first meeting between the champion and his team since Jerez. The one from Cervera stated: “There was a part of me that definitely wanted to ride again, especially after sitting in front of her, but now is the time to be patient. It's been good to come here to talk not only with the team, but also with the people at Honda as we begin to map out a plan for 2021. "
The hugs from his brother gave Álex Márquez strength, who gained five positions in the race. The rider crossed the checkered flag in thirteenth position and is one of the few who has finished all Grand Prixes of the season, without falls or injuries. This position gives him three more points for the general classification of the World Cup, where he occupies the sixteenth position. Stefan Bradl finished the twenty-four laps of the Catalan Grand Prix after his arm injury.
Now it is their turn to rest for a few days before returning to competition at the Le Mans circuit, where the French Grand Prix will be held from October 9 to 11. Before that, they will go to the Portimao circuit to learn the track, since it will be the first time that it is included in the World Cup championship.
Foward Racing Team
The first day of the MV Agusta Forward Racing Team was marked by the decision to fit soft tires. During the second day, both Manzi and Corsi managed to reduce their times by at least one second. Stefano Manzi was not satisfied and kept working to set his best time in Q1, closing his best lap in 1 minute 44 seconds 207 thousandths. Despite his efforts, the VR46 Riders Academy cadet rider started from the seventh row. Simone Corsi, was one hundredth of a second behind his boxing partner, with whom he shared the start.
The race, however, had better fortune for Corsi. The MV Agusta Forward Racing Team rider had a solid day and stayed consistent on his bike. Finally, he crossed the checkered flag in fifteenth position, which means adding a point in the general classification. Stefano Manzi went long on turn two due to the asphalt temperature, a problem that many other riders had as well.
We will also see them on October 9 at the Le Mans circuit to celebrate the French Grand Prix.
