The Repsol Honda team rider must rest after a hard fall suffered during the third free practice.
Just as the MotoGP grid was preparing to go out to taste the Ricardo Tormo circuit for the first time, it began to rain on the Valencian asphalt. Pol Espargaró took the opportunity to test his Honda RC213V in the wet. A productive morning led # 44 to the ninth fastest time, just 0.731 seconds from the top.
In the afternoon, and with better weather conditions, Pol was able to show his speed in Valencia, one of his favorite races on the calendar. Improving his rhythm with each lap on the track, the one from Granollers set a best time of 1'30.939 to place second overall.
Just 0.012 seconds behind Bagnaia, the Repsol Honda rider pushed even harder on his last lap of FP2 to overcome the gap, but suffered a crash at Turn 6. Espargaró finished the day without injuries.
On Saturday, during free practice 3, Pol Espargaró suffered a severe fall at the exit of turn 12, and heading towards 13. The rider was quickly transferred to the circuit medical center before being transferred again, but this time to the Hospital 9 de Octubre in Valencia for further review. Medical examinations revealed severe bruising, especially around the right chest and abdomen.
Espargaró did not participate, finally, in any of the other sessions of the weekend.
