The bottom of the protective plate is flat, to facilitate lifting the bike if necessary, and in case of having to overcome an obstacle by dragging the skid plate, it aids sliding. It also has openings to ensure proper cooling by allowing air circulation through it, so that stones, sand, water... do not accumulate inside, and to be able to perform maintenance operations such as oil changes without needing to remove the protector.
It is available in matte black, which offers extra protection against weathering.
Designed and manufactured at Puig's facilities in Barcelona specifically for the Kawasaki KLR 650. It is made from a single 4mm thick high-end aluminum sheet to guarantee optimal resistance.
It is fixed to the bike by means of anti-vibration rubber mounts that absorb the possible impacts the protector might receive, distributing the force through the different fixing points to minimize damage, as well as reducing noise and vibrations.

The lower part of the protector is completely flat, which makes it easier to lift the motorcycle from the lower part in the mechanical workshop if necessary, and it has holes to guarantee good cooling and to evacuate water, mud, or small accumulated stones. It includes specific metal supports with anti-corrosion treatment painted in textured black for a discreet and elegant finish.
The protector is fixed to the lower part of the motorcycle with anti-vibration rubber supports that absorb any possible blows that the protector may receive, distributing the impact force through the different fixing points and, in turn, eliminating possible annoying noises that exist when these rubbers are not being used.
